Field Activity Capture
I documented on-site activities through photography and visual reporting, helping preserve accurate records of environmental work, team actions, and community interaction in the field.
[ 01 ] RIVERRECYCLE INTERNSHIP
This page documents my internship experience at RiverRecycle, where I contributed to field documentation, waste analysis support, community surveys, and focused group discussions with barangay stakeholders.
RiverRecycle is an environmental organization focused on intercepting plastic waste from rivers before it reaches the ocean, then transforming recovered material into useful applications such as chairs, tiles, and construction boards.
During my internship, I worked as a Marketing On-Field Intern whose responsibilities combined documentation, research support, and direct community-facing tasks in active field settings.
Founded in Helsinki in 2019 by entrepreneur Anssi Mikola, RiverRecycle operates systems designed to remove litter from waterways, convert collected waste into valuable raw materials, and reinvest value back into local economies.
The organization’s model combines environmental action, community coordination, and practical implementation, making field documentation especially important for visibility, reporting, and stakeholder communication.
One of the notable initiatives connected to my internship was the ADB Pasig River Digital Twin project, which applies digital twin technology to support data-driven responses to plastic pollution.
This exposure gave me a stronger understanding of how field operations connect with broader environmental systems, reporting workflows, and long-term urban sustainability efforts.
I documented on-site activities through photography and visual reporting, helping preserve accurate records of environmental work, team actions, and community interaction in the field.
I participated in Waste Analysis and Characterization Study sessions, supporting the collection and interpretation of field information relevant to waste patterns and environmental conditions.
I helped conduct community surveys in target waterways and joined Focused Group Discussions with barangay officials, contributing to stakeholder engagement and local data gathering.
The internship required adaptability, clear communication, and reliable execution in dynamic field conditions, where documentation quality and interpersonal coordination both mattered.
This internship pushed me beyond my comfort zone and helped me develop stronger time management, composure under pressure, and confidence in professional communication.
Working in real field conditions taught me how to stay organized while responding to fast-moving situations, coordinate with different people, and deliver useful output without losing consistency.
The experience strengthened both my documentary discipline and my awareness of how operational work, environmental goals, and community relationships depend on one another.
It also reinforced a work ethic grounded in responsibility, adaptability, and clear communication—qualities I continue to apply in both operations and design-related roles.
The full working report and reference material can be accessed through the original Google Doc used during the internship documentation process.
